Waterloo & St. Jacob's Land Acknowledgement

The Fat Sparrow Group acknowledges that our restaurants are situated on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg, and Haudenosaunee peoples. We are also on the Haldimand Tract Land that was promised to the peoples of the Six Nations in 1784. This included 10 kilometers on either side of the Grand River. We are so grateful for the opportunity to live and work here and we thank all the generations of people who have taken care of this land - for thousands of years. We would also like to acknowledge the contributions of the Métis, Inuit and other First Nations peoples who have been essential in shaping and strengthening this community. As settlers, this small acknowledgment is a first step in our commitment to bring [re]conciliation in our communities and we look forward to growing together.

Killbear Land Acknowledgement

The Fat Sparrow Group acknowledges that we are on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabek; specifically the Ojibwa, Chippewa, and Algonquin peoples. This territory is also covered by the Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850 and the Williams Treaty of 1923. We are grateful for the opportunity to gather here and we must recognize the original stewards of the lands and waters. We deeply appreciate their historic connection to this place and we thank all the generations of people who have taken care of this land - for thousands of years. We would also like to acknowledge the contributions of the Métis, Inuit and other First Nations peoples who have been essential in shaping and strengthening this community. As settlers this small acknowledgement is a first step in our commitment to bring [re]conciliation in our communities and we look forward to growing together.
